Happy Anniversary!
Congratulations! It's been just a year since the statue of Saddam was pulled down, marking the unofficial end to Operation Iraqi Liberation. And, according to Donald Rumsfeld and the US military,
things couldn't be going any better.
Oh, sure, 300 or so Iraqis were killed in Fallujah last week, at least 14 foreigners have been abducted, the Suni's and Shiites are working together to kill americans, US military deaths since 'major combat over' on May 1 2003 are at least 496 (so far), other 'coalition' deaths are up to at least 67, and the total reported Iraqi civilian deaths are estimated at between 8,865 to 10,715.
Yep, things are going so well, I think the 'president'
deserves the vacation he's currently taking. He owes it to himself, after all these weeks of tireless fund raising he's put in.
Hell, just 'cuz he's in Crawford TX, that doesn't mean he won't still be getting his daily briefings. And we all know how on top of things he tends to be. "Hmm, Osama's determined to attack inside the US? The FBI says it looks like Al Qaeda is preparing to hijack airplanes? Not much to worry about there. C'mon Barney,
let's go catch us somma them armadillos."
