NOVEMBER 8, 1913

LOUIS F. SAUTER FORCES LOCKED DOOR WHEN DETECTS FUMES OF GAS

Sewing in hand, the gas jet wide open, Mrs. Fanny Sauter of 121 Hartson Street plied her needle until overcome by the fumes. Her husband, Louis F. Sauter found her dead in her bedroom when he returned from work at 6 o'clock last night.

Mrs. Sauter was beyond medical aid when Dr. V.J. Snyder, summoned by Mr. Sauter, arrived at the house. Coroner George R. Kinne made an investigation

Mrs. Sauter had been suffering from melancholia for several months and had been undergoing treatment prior to her death.

Mrs. WW Cummings, who occupies the lower flat, heard Mrs. Sauter moving about up to 4 o'clock. When Mr. Sauter returned from the Franklin Automobile Works where he is employed

Story goes on to state that Louis found the front door locked, and opened it with his key. He then went upstairs and found Fanny's bedroom door locked. He broke down the door and found her slumped down, knitting in hand, with the windows sealed up tight.

Louis F. Sauter died Thursday night at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. S.W. Applebee of Buffalo. Mr. Sauter had been ill for several years, and was taking treatments at Gratwick State Hospital. He made his last trip to Buffalo on April 9.

A retired leather worker, Mr. Sauter worked at the H.H. Franklin Manfacturing Co.

He is survived byhis wife, Ethel, a son, Frederick, a daughter, Mrs. Edward Richmond, a granddaughter, Miss Dorothy Richmond, a brother, George E. Sauter, three sisters, Mrs. Everett Hull, Mrs. Carrie Paul, and Mrs. Earl Carr.
